Long Distance Trails Crew

Bear Mountain Worktrip
Sunday, April 7, 2024

The Long Distance Trails Crew will be repairing damage to the Appalachian Trail on Bear Mountain in Bear Mountain State Park.  This damage was caused by the massive flooding in July of 2023.

This is a steep and challenging worksite. We can and will use all the help we can get.
Please come out and join us, you’ll be glad you did.

We will be meeting at the Bear Mountain Carousel Parking Lot (41.31023° N, 73.99042° W). From there we pool in approximately two trucks to get us closer to our worksite.

Meeting time is 8:30am - we will leave around 8:45am and we end work at around 3:00pm. Then, we will take a return ride back to the parking lot for our end of day crew meeting.

MANDATORY:  Bring water, work gloves, snacks for break time and your lunch.

Safety glasses and hard hats are required. Please bring those if you have them. If you do not have your own, safety glasses and hard hats will be provided. Also recommended: long sleeve shirt, long pants and sturdy shoes/work boots.

Required Paperwork: Please complete the Volunteer Service Agreement prior to coming out for the work day. There are associated Permits for working on Bear Mountain right now. When you register, we will reach out with additional steps to take.

If you have any questions or concerns, please call Chris Reyling at (914) 953-4900.
