Join the Trail Conference Conservation Dogs Program team for a day dedicated to restoring habitat in Harriman State Park! We will teach you plant identification skills to get to work on removing an emerging invasive species, Scotch broom, helping make space for native species to return to this beautiful park. Join us and help protect the land you love!
Note: While there will be no dog demonstaration at this event, you will gain wonderful new knowledge on invasive (and native) species!
BEFORE YOU GO: For volunteers under age 18, please submit a Guardian Consent Form to [email protected] prior to the volunteer day or bring the paper form the day of. A parent or guardian must be present for the volunteer day. Volunteers for this workshop must complete the required , selecting 'Harriman State Park' from the list.
MEETING PLACE: Queensboro Maintainence Yard, Directions.
ACTIVITY: No experience necessary. Removal of invasive Scotch broom with the Conservation Dogs Program staff. Removal techniques will include pulling.
BRING: Field clothing including long pants, long shirt, and sturdy shoes. Plenty of water. Lunch and snacks. Bug spray, sunscreen, and hat if preferred. We will supply gloves and eye protection but feel free to bring your own.

This Event counts as part of Trail U curriculum.
Attending this worktrip will fulfill the "Non-Trail U NYNJTC Event" elective for any of the 3 curriculum tracks. Fill out your attendance in the Trail U Brochure to track your progress and earn a patch upon completion!
