About The TrailBound Project:

The vision of TBP is to inspire and help those who wish to experience the wilderness safely by teaching them the necessary skills through our courses & challenges, resulting in a fun and memorable experience.

TrailBounders share a passion for the outdoors and a craving to experience all that comes with it. However, heading into the wilderness safely and efficiently is a skill that takes education, time, and dedication to accomplish. To that end, we created a school that provides the tools for novices and experts alike to rapidly improve their confidence and skills.

About the Bear Encounters and Hiking Workshop

Thankfully most hikes go as planned, but we’ve all heard the stories about what could go wrong on a hike: What should you do if you encounter bears, coyotes, snakes, or even an aggressive dog? Did I just rub up against poison ivy or was it some other plant with three leaves?

Most issues can be prevented by heading out with a little knowledge and a good plan. In this workshop, among other things, we’ll be discussing actual animal encounters and covering how to handle those types of animal encounters if they happen to you, some plant ID, how to pack your backpack, and we’ll introduce you to an amazing hike planning app to ensure there are no surprises on the trail. This workshop will give you a taste from both our 4-hour Hiking Gear Essentials course and our 4-hour Hiking Basics & Safety course.

Note: This is a 3-hour workshop and not a certification course.
