Catskills Trail Crew Maintenance Workday
Saturday, April 19, 2025
9:00AM - 2:00PM
Indian Head Wilderness
Elka Park, NY
Interested in helping manage the overgrowth of nettles on the Mink Hollow Trail? Join the CTC on their first outing of the year to help rake leaves and clear drainages that foster the growth of nettles.
- What to expect: To remove the wet leaves next to the trail that foster the growth of nettles later in the year. In summer, this trail is typically overgrown with nettles and impossible to keep clear for more than a brief time. The approach of removing the conditions that favor growth of nettles has been tried elsewhere and seems to work.
- Terrain: Rocky, steep terrain.
- Distance/elevation: 0.5 miles up to the lean-to, before heading back and working on the way down.
- What to bring: (e.g. Sturdy footwear, layers, snacks, water, bug spray. Please bring a garden or bow rake if you have one!
- Where to meet: The end of Mink Hollow Rd, Elka Park, NY - Google Maps Link
- Contact: Charlie Gadol at [email protected]
