Long Distance Trails Crew Workday

The Long Distance Trails Crew is continuing the work on rehabilitating the Long Path at the north end of Tallman Mountain. They are building a long series of stone steps. Please come out and join the crew - you will be glad you did.


  • What to expect: The crew will be building a long set of stairs to rehabilitate the Long Path.
  • Terrain: Rocky, steep terrain.
  • Distance/elevation: Very short distance from the parking lot atop Tallman Mountain.
  • What to bring: Water, work gloves, snacks for break time, and lunch. Safety glasses and hard hats are required - please bring those if you have them. If you do not have your own, they will be provided. Also recommended: long sleeve shirt, long pants, and sturdy shoes or work boots.
  • Where to meet: the North End of the Sawmill Picnic Area at Tallman Mountain State Park. Coordinates are 41.036425, -73.914555. Google Maps Link.

Required Paperwork: Please complete the OPRHP Volunteer Service Agreement prior to coming out for the workday. This must be completed once per calendar year. Please select "Tallman Mountain State Park."


This Event counts as part of Trail U curriculum.

Attending this worktrip will fulfill the "Non-Trail U NYNJTC Event" elective for any of the 3 curriculum tracks. Fill out your attendance in the Trail U Brochure to track your progress and earn a patch upon completion!
