Ever wonder what it takes to be a Trail Maintainer? Join NYNJTC Trail Supervisor Mary Dodds in this Intro to Trail Maintenance Workshop to find out!
- Terrain: Moderate elevation gain over sometimes rocky sections of trail
- Distance/elevation: The group will hike between 2-3 miles round trip with approximately 500 ft of elevation gain on the red-blazed Sugarloaf Trail to the intersection with the Osborn Loop Trail. On the way back to the parking lot, we will visit a new section of trail being built by the East Hudson Trail Crew, a NYNJTC volunteer crew.
- What to bring: Work gloves, glasses/sunglasses for eye protection, plenty of water, lunch and snacks, long pants, bug spray, study close-toed shoes. Bring clippers/loppers/hammers/nail pullers/small pick mattock/or handsaw if you have them. Tools will be provided for those that don't have them.
- Where to meet: Parking lot for Hudson Highlands, Wing and Wing Rd, Philipstown, NY - Google Maps Link. Please note that the trailhead is easy to miss coming off of Rt 9D!
