National Trails Challenge

The sudden loss of federal AmeriCorps funding in New York State poses a threat to our Trail Conference Conservation Corps program and our ability to provide critical on-the-ground work. The Trail Conference remains resilient, rising to the moment with determination, creativity, and the strength of our trail community behind us.

That’s why we’re launching our National Trails Challenge—to celebrate the trail lands we love and spotlight the behind-the-scenes work that keeps them open and accessible for all. At the heart of this effort is our Conservation Corps and its impact on protecting trails, restoring ecosystems, and empowering the next generation of environmental leaders. Until this year, all Conservation Corps members served through AmeriCorps. In response to the loss, we're acting swiftly to restructure our 2025 Corps season and transition rescinded AmeriCorps roles into seasonal positions. But we can’t do it without dedicated supporters like you.
