National Trails Day:
Catskills Trail Crew Workday
Saturday, June 6, 2026
9:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Phoenicia Mt. Tobias Wild Forest
Hunter, NY
For National Trails Day, join the Catskills Trail Crew as we work to clear a section of the Long Path on the Warner Creek Trail.
We will be using loppers and handsaws to clear encroaching brush and minor blowdowns to restore the trail to prime condition.
- What to Expect: A challenging yet rewarding day of clearing out a trail in the heart of the Catskills during National Trails Day Weekend.
- Distance/elevation: Our goal for the weekend is to clear all the way from the Notch Inn Road Trailhead to the Willow Trailhead, a distance of 7.5 miles with ~2,000 feet of elevation gain. While we may not make it all in one day, expect a challenging and rewarding day outside.
- Terrain: Typical rocky Catskills trail with potentially steep sections.
- What to bring: Good footwear, snacks, lunch, water, bug spray/head net, and a good attitude!. Also, bring gloves, safety glasses, and any hand tools that may be useful. PPE and tools will be provided if you don't have them.
- Where to meet: The pullouts at the beginning of Notch Inn Road, Hunter, NY - Google Maps Link
