West Jersey Crew Workday
Saturday, May 16, 2026
9:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Appalachian Trail
Hewitt, NJ
The West Jersey Crew is working on the Pochuck Shelter on the Appalachian Trail in Wawayanda State Park. No experience necessary!
- What to expect: The crew will complete work replacing the roof on the AT’s Pochuck Shelter, in Wawayanda State Park. We will meet at 9:00 am and work until between 3:00 pm and 4:00pm.
- Terrain: Terrain is hilly and rocky (this is North Jersey, after all!) There is a ¼ – ½ mile walk, without tools, from the meeting location to the staging area. From there we will walk ¼ mile, carrying tools and materials, to the work site.
- What to bring: Bring your lunch, plenty of water, work gloves, clothing appropriate for the weather, and sturdy work shoes, and be prepared to get dirty. You will be expected to wear a hard hat (we will provide them, but bring your own if you have one) and eye protection (either prescription glasses or safety glasses--please bring your own safety glasses if you have them.) We provide all tools.
- Where to meet: After you register you will receive an email from the crew leaders with trip details including meeting location and driving directions.
- Contact: Please direct any questions to West Jersey Crew co-leaders David and Monica Day, [email protected]
Required Paperwork: Please complete the ATC Volunteer Service Agreement prior to coming out for the workday, if you have never filled this form out before.
