National Trails Day Workday at Bear Mountain State Park
Saturday, June 6, 2026
9:00 am - 2:00 pm
Appalachian Trail - Bear Mountain State Park
Stony Point, NY
Join us in Celebrating National Trails Day and our public lands by joining our Conservation Corps Crews as we near completion of surfacing repairs to this historic portion of the Appalachian Trail in Bear Mountain State Park.
- What to expect: Work will involve working alongside Conservation Corpsmembers in restoring trail surfacing by carrying, placing and spreading crushed stone and gravel using buckets and wheelbarrow. Creating crushed rock with sledgehammers may also be possible. Please show up between 8:00 and 8:15am to meet with the crew before hiking out to the worksite.
- Terrain: Rocky and uneven in places, but worksite terrain is generally moderate. Worksite is accessed via a 0.5 mi hike up from Bear Mountain Inn via formal rock steps to a scenic overlook. A great workout for a great cause!
- What to bring: Water, snacks/lunch, and gloves if you have them. Gloves, safety glasses, and hardhat will be provided. Long pants and sturdy closed-toed shoes required. Also recommended: sunscreen, bug spray, and electrolyte powder (gatorade, propel).
- Where to meet: Bear Mountain Inn (Parking Lot #1) - Stony Point, NY - Google Maps Link.
